We're not going to sugar coat this. Data recovery from a failed hard drive can be a crap-shoot. As with any gamble, it can also be expensive. If it is recovered, there's a chance the file-names or other useful metadata could be gone. There's a chance the data is completely gone - unrecoverable.
Still, there is always a chance that we can recover the data, and if it's important to you, it's certainly worth trying.
Sometimes your data isn't lost due to hard-drive failure. We've all accidentally deleted something. User error. Not enough coffee. Often-times those deleted files can be recovered, especially if they are in a common format. In these cases, it is very important that you stop working with the drive in question. Shut it off, so you don't risk further overwriting the deleted files.
